“I said to David Templeton, I’ve got a feeling we are going to get a penalty in this game. The manager at Tynecastle, Paolo Sergio, was a great lad with a dry sense of humour but, very funny. He threw me on in the second half of the semi final of Hearts against my old club Celtic in February 2012.

I set up Rudi Skacel to give us the lead in the game, but Gary Hooper equalised with only four minutes remaining for Neil Lennon’s team. We were heading to extra time when Marius Zaliukas hit the ball off Joe Ledley’s arm and it then bounced up off Victor Wanyama’s hand too. The ref pointed to the spot and I was sure this was my moment.

I always watched Fraser Forster dive to the corner for spot kicks, so I decided I would go straight down the middle. As soon as it hit the net, I went crazy, off came the top with my full hairy chest on show! I ran past all the Hearts supporters behind the goal like a seasoned sprinter, but quickly checked my run as I got closer to the Celtic fans.

It was a special moment to savour in maroon.”
