The Football Family
Without doubt my ‘football moment’ came on October 12th 1977.
I was a skinny seven year old kid who ate, slept and dreamt football 24/7. It was that night my eyes widened, heart pumped and smile beamed like never before because of the beautiful game – and it might not have done so since.
That happened when King Kenny Dalglish headed Martin Buchan’s cross into the Welsh net to send Scotland to Argentina 1978.
I remember Buchan’s run, his cross, Kenny’s leap and connection, his celebration and, probably above everything else, Arthur Montford’s immortal line in commentary – “Argentina here we come!”.Back to The Football Family
