Brandon out long term with knee injury

Hearts youngster Jamie Brandon has been hit with the devastating news he faces up to nine months out after suffering a serious knee injury.

The full-back – who has featured 14 times in the first team this season – ruptured his cruciate ligament during an under-20s clash with Aberdeen on Tuesday.

A scan has now confirmed the Jambos’ worst fears, with the 20-year-old ruled out until November at least.

Brandon, who made his first-team debut in the final game of last season, was rewarded with a new two-and-a-half-year contract in October after impressing Levein.

A statement on the Hearts website said: “Jamie Brandon will be out of action until at least November after picking up a serious injury in Tuesday’s U20s match.

“He will now work closely with the club’s medical staff in a bid to come back even stronger than before.”
