Cup draw chaos

The Scottish Cup quarter-final draw was plunged into chaos after the draw had to be restarted amid farcical scenes.

Dundee United and Celtic had been pulled out of the hat before Dumbarton or Dundee were awaiting to see who they would play.

But in bizarre circumstances the draw had to be done again after the Morton ball appeared to be opened before it came out therefore due to the SFA rules “unforeseen circumstances” made the draw void.

In the end Celtic were drawn at home to Morton, Rangers or Kilmarnock face either Dumbarton or Dundee.

Celtic striker Griffiths says the Hoops won’t be taking the Championship side lightly after they suffered at the hands of the Ton in the League Cup in 2013.

“We always wanted a home draw but when the balls up was made it wasn’t very nice especially for everybody watching at home. I think Celtic fans were praying for a home draw in the end.

“We’ve got to give respect to Morton the last time they played us they beat us so we need to be wary of that.

“The players that played in that squad Charlie, Jamesy they’ll be telling everybody us that regardless of the opposition we still need to go and take care of it professionally.”

Cup holders Inverness CT face a trip to Edinburgh to face the winners of Hearts and Hibs and Dundee United who were originally paired with Celtic travel to Ross County.

The ties will be played on March 5 and 6.
