De Boer: No-one in Holland is interested in Celtic

Ronald de Boer claims Dutch football fans aren’t interested in Celtic anymore because top flight football in Scotland is a one-horse race due to the absence of Rangers.

The former Light Blues midfielder was speaking before Celtic’s Europa League clash with his brother Frank’s side Ajax on Thursday in the Amsterdam Arena.

De Boer, who played for Ajax, Barcelona and Rangers, says the Old Firm derbies are what attracted viewers in Holland to watch Scottish football.

“In Holland, they don’t show highlights of the Celtic games any more and why? It’s because Rangers aren’t there,” he told the Daily Record.

“People here don’t only talk about Rangers coming back, they talk about the Old Firm. They talk about both teams together and that’s what they’re interested in.

“People here are not interested in Celtic because they already know the end result and that is not good for the Scottish league.”
