Dundee 1-2 Hearts: Juanma at the double

By Des McKeown

Robbie Neilson’s side made it two wins in a row with a second half comeback at Dens Park.

Juanma was the visitor’s hero with a double within five second half minutes to cancel out Kane Hemmings’ first goal for the Dundee club.

The first 45 minutes belonged to the home side as Paul Hartley’s players played with pace, power and purpose to dominate possession.

It took them only six minutes to find the net when they capitalised after Hearts switched off at a corner and allowed Paul McGowan to find Greg Stewart with a short pass.

The young Dundee striker then lifted his head and floated a cross into the area where Kane Hemmings met it with a powerful header.

Dundee had further chances through McGowan, Harkins and Holt but they couldn’t double their lead before the half time whistle.

The second period was a totally different story and the visitors stepped up their pace and application to swamp the home side.

That paid dividends on 56 minutes when James McPake was adjudged to have handled the ball during a sustained period of pressure – Juanma stepped up to coolly slot home from the spot.

Five minutes later and the visitors were in the lead when Juanma stole in from the left hand side, side-stepped a defender and stroked the ball into the Dundee net.

Hearts had further chances to extend their lead through Reilly and Walker while Dundee offered very little during the remainder of the game.

This really was a game of two halves.
