UEFA have announced that Hampden Park is in the running to host the Europa League, Conference League or Women’s Champions League Final in either 2026 or 2027.

The national stadium is a contender for one of the finals, but will face stuff competition from stadiums around Europe to host the showpiece event.

Also in the running for the Women’s Champions League Final is Gelsenkirchen, Munich, Stuttgart and Oslo. Whilst stadiums in Istanbul, Bucharest, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Leipzig, Stuttgart are vying for the Europa League Final.

Istanbul, Geneve, Oslo, Jerusalem and Leipzig meanwhile are in contention for the Conference League Final.

UEFA have said a final decision will be taken on the host cities by May 2024.

The most recent Hampden European final took place in 2007 where Sevilla lifted the trophy after a penalty shootout win against fellow Spanish side Espanyol on penalties.
