James Forrest – A Celtic Career In Pictures
Ahead of James Forrest’s testimonial match against Athletic Club tonight, PLZ Soccer takes a look back on his Celtic career in pictures.
Forrest bagged his first Celtic goal on his debut, scoring the third goal in a 4-0 win over Motherwell.
He signed his first major contract in January 2011, signing a five-year deal after an impressive run of games in the first team.
Forrest won his first league title with Celtic in 2012, ending the season with 9 goals and 7 assists in 43 appearances at the age of 21.
It was also a successful season on a personal level as he was awarded the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year Award.
He clinched his first European group stage goal against Ajax in 2013 from the penalty spot.
Forrest’s goal in the 2016 League Cup final against Aberdeen helped Celtic to win their 100th major trophy.
When Forrest scored a year later in the 2017 League Cup final against Motherwell he became the first Celtic player since Bobby Lennox to score in 3 winning League Cup finals.
His first derby goal arrived in 2018 in a 5-0 victory over Rangers to help the club to their seventh consecutive league title.
Season 2018/19 was all about the ‘treble-treble’ for Celtic as they claimed all 3 domestic honours for a third year running. For star man James Forrest, he enjoyed an additional treble of his own as he scooped up the PFA Scotland, Scottish Football Writers’ and SPFL Player of the Year awards.
Forrest became just the 30th player in Celtic’s history to notch 100 goals for the club when he netted a hattrick against Hibs in October 2022.
