Joe Hart has hailed Kyogo Furuhashi as a ‘beautiful person’ and ‘exceptional footballer’ after the forward signed a new long term contract extension.

The 28-year old was the cinch Premiership’s top goal scorer last season and put speculation about his future to bed by penning a deal to keep him at Celtic Park until 2027.

It’s a move that Hart has welcomed saying: “It’s huge. What a great bit of news that is. I love him as a person, he’s a beautiful person and an exceptional footballer.”

“He’s been brilliant for us since he came in and he really shone for us last year in big moments. He really sets the tone for a high pressing, exciting football team. He’s loved here and he’s obviously felt that because he’s wanted to commit a really important time of his career to this club and we appreciate that.”

“I think the statement of the club that if you want to be here and you’re playing well then you’re welcome and if you don’t then we’ll look for someone who does.”

Stopper Hart also had his say on Brendan Rodgers, emphasising the new manager’s drive to achieve success in his second spell at Celtic Park adding: “We’ve only been together a couple of days now but you know, he’s an exceptional guy.”

“He’s a very successful manager, huge drive and he’s laid it on the line. He stood here in front of us and let us know how proud he was of what we did last year, but that was last year and we now need to build on it and try and improve and push each other.”
