Jose Cifuentes is set to go straight into Michael Beale’s squad for Rangers’ opening Premiership game against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

The midfielder was immediately introduced to his team-mates this week after completing his £1.2m move from Los Angeles FC.

And Beale joked that the 24-year-old can expect a culture shock as he swaps the States for Ayrshire.
Jose trained right away and is available for the squad,” said Beale.

“It is important I involve him in the squad to get a feel for the league. It is certainly different playing in Ayrshire than LA.”

Beale has had the opportunity to put his own stamp on the squad this summer and while he was keen to stress that he has remained in budget by playing around with money generated from players sales and the utilisation of freed up salaries, he accepts that the proof of just where his squad are will be measured in results.

“We have re-energised the squad,” he said. “The idea was to equip the squad for the coming years.

“It is important now that this team shows it on the pitch. I am expecting a tough game at Kilmarnock and the proof of that will be time and the results that we get.

“The future starts tomorrow.

“I am extremely satisfied. I sat here a few months ago and I was really calm because I knew the plan and I knew I just had to execute it.

“I have felt a lot of freedom when it has come to being able to go and recruit players.

“Our net spend will be very small. It was not about asking the board about finance, it was about being able to reshape the squad and I have been able to do that.

Striker Fashion Sakala won’t feature in the opening game of the season and looks as though he has played his last game for Rangers.

Sakala is believed to be in talks with Al Fayha with Beale confirming his imminent departure.

“Fashion won’t be involved tomorrow because he is away having discussions,” said the Rangers manager.

“He is a player I have a fantastic relationship with, but sometimes in football these things happen and an opportunity comes up and we discuss it between myself and the player and from there something can happen.

“He’s away having talks, nothing is complete yet either way but he won’t be part of the squad tomorrow.”
