Mikey Johnston was handed a fresh injury blow as Brendan Rodgers revealed that the winger will be out for ‘near on three months’.
Rodgers broke the news to Irish media saying: “Sadly for Mikey, he’s going to be out for a few more months. He’s got an injury with his back. He will be out for near on three months”
The Republic of Ireland forward spent last season on loan at Vitória Guimaraes and was recently called up to Stephen Kenny’s national side, earning four caps.
The Celtic boss admitted that the 24-year-old would have to fight for his place before the injury occurred adding: “His job is to convince myself and the coaches that he’s ready for a place.”
“It’s the players’ responsibility and they have to show the quality and consistency and robustness in order to play and that is the job of every player.”
