Stubbs: It will be difficult for Rangers to catch us

Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs believes it will be difficult for Rangers to catch them in the promotion race after a victory over Livingston has taken them five points clear of the Light Blues.

A last-minute winner from Frank Dja Djedje ensured Hibs stretched their unbeaten run to 14 games after Ibra Sekajja had cancelled out Jason Cummings’ opener.

The Leith outfit are five points clear of third-placed Rangers and have played two games more but they are due to face each other on March 22.

Stubbs was pleased with the character they showed to grab that vital winner against the Lions and he says Rangers will struggle to catch them if they keep picking up victories.

“It shows a different side to us. We kept going to the end,” he said.

“It was about one minute between them scoring and us equalising and that shows the lads have come a long way in a short space of time.

“Earlier on in the season we could have lost that game. But now there’s a different mindset.

“We’re just ticking each game off and if we can keep picking up maximum points it’s going to be difficult for Rangers to catch us.”
