21 Nov Hearts 1-1 Dundee: Missed opportunity for hosts
By Craig Turnbull at Tynecastle
Hearts missed the opportunity to narrow the gap on Celtic after a 1-1 draw with Dundee.
Arnaud Djoum opened the scoring for the hosts powering a header past Scott Bain in goal from a Callum Paterson cross.
But Robbie Neilson’s men, who were minus their top goalscorer Juanma, failed to build on their lead and were pegged back.
Neilson said: “If you want to challenge for the title you need to win games like this simple as. We’re not ready to do that yet. It takes time.
Rory Loy grabbed a deserved equaliser for Dundee, cutting on to his right foot and lashing the ball beyond Neil Alexander to grab a share of the spoils.
“I’m disappointed. I thought we started really well, went a goal ahead and had numerous chances,” Neilson said.
“It then went a bit flat and nobody really had any control of the game in the second-half. So yeah I’m disappointed, we should be picking up three points.”
Dundee boss Paul Hartley said: I’m really pleased for the players it’s a tough place to come.
“I thought we were by far the better side in the second half and always looked a threat we could have possibly nicked it in the end.”
