01 Aug Kilmarnock 0-4 Dundee: Dark Blues top after stunning display
The Dark Blues were dominant from the first whistle and it was clear early on they were much fitter and sharper than their opponents.
Jamie MacDonald produced a series of stops to deny the visitors before Greg Stewart opened the scoring with a sensational left-footed curling effort from around 20 yards out that sailed into the top corner of the net.
Paul Hartley’s men were out of sight a minute after the restart and it was Loy again who nodded the ball home from close range after Gary Harkins had lobbed the ball over MacDonald towards the back post.
Stewart netted his second and his side’s fourth on 78 minutes when he twisted and turned inside and box and fired high past MacDonald into the back of the net.
Dundee boss Hartley admitted it was the best offensive display he had seen since taking charge, adding “I thought it was a perfect performance, we dominated the match from start to finish”.
Kilmarnock failed to test Scott Bain for the entire match, something that will no doubt worry boss Gary Locke who said after the game;-
“I never seen that performance coming at all, we were second best everywhere but credit to Dundee they played very well.”
