Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba insists they can cope without Neymar in their Club World Cup semi-final against Guangzhou Evergrande.
The Brazilian has been in scintillating form for the Catalans but suffered a groin injury and will miss the match against the Chinese outfit.
Neymar, who has scored 14 goals in 13 Liga games, has been nominated in the final three of the Ballon d’Or but Alba believes they can handle his absence.
“The team’s situation couldn’t be better,” he is quoted as saying by Marca.
“We know how important he is. Right now he’s one of the three best players in the world and we know what he brings to the team but Barcelona can make do without any player.
“We have plenty of depth in the squad, but Neymar is really important for us.”
Barcelona take a short break from La Liga and Champions League duties but Alba says they certainly won’t be taking it easy in the tournament.
“It’s a short competition, but we’ll try to perform as we’ve been doing in the league, the Champions League and the Spanish Cup,” he said.
“It’s the only trophy I’m missing. Some of the team have already won it but are equally as keen as I am to lift it this year. However, we have to make it to the final first, which will be really tough.”
