Barry Ferguson: Hibernian clash even more difficult than Celtic tie for Rangers

Barry Ferguson insists Rangers’ league clash with Hibernian will be more difficult for Steven Gerrard’s side than the Old Firm tie on December 29.

The Light Blues face a confident Hibees side at Easter Road tonight in a bid to hold onto top spot in the league table, as rivals Celtic take on Motherwell.

Neil Lennon’s team ran out convincing 2-0 winners over the SPFL champions on Sunday and the former Ibrox skipper believes the Edinburgh side will be their toughest test this month.

He told PLZ Soccer: “I’ll be keen watching the game tonight because this is the biggest one for me.¬† They need to get this one out of the road.

“I watched a Hibs team on top form [on Sunday] this is the hardest game out of them all tonight.”

When asked by host Peter Martin would this match be harder than the Celtic game, he said: “They need to win this one tonight.

“I’m not concerned about the Celtic game on the 29th, I would be concerned with Rangers winning this game tonight.¬†This is the most important one… mentally they need to do it.”
