Nine points clear in the Championship with a one hundred per cent record. Can anyone stop Rangers from running away with the title?
No, is the simple answer from Player of the month, Martyn Waghorn.
Fourteen goals since the start of the season and eight goals in the month of September has everyone talking about the 25 year old striker’s contribution to the runaway leaders.
The fact that seven have come from the penalty spot does not lessen the Englishman’s ability to find the net from any distance, with or without a defender in front of him.
Waghorn has obviously been well warned about any slip up in a press conference about Rangers title hopes, but even he had a wry smile when asked if anyone could stop the Rangers juggernaut heading quickly back to the Premiership next season.
“Anyone could catch us, but we are not going to let them catch us.”
“We are going out there, week in week out, to try and get three points and try and win every game possible. If we keep doing that, then no, no-one is going to catch us.”
“It’s a long season and it is up to us to take one game at a time and we are going to do that. We all know how tough it can be so, It’s up to us to work hard and take it week by week.”
It was a double celebration for the Ibrox outfit with Rangers manager Mark Warburton picking up the Manager of the Month for September with wins over Raith Rovers, Livingston, Dumbarton and Morton.
Rangers scored fourteen goals over the four games conceding only one in the process.
