Chelsea have given manager Jose Mourinho a vote of confidence after a disappointing start to the season.
The Blues occupy 16th place in the Premier League after four defeats in their first eight games.
Mourinho said after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Southampton that the club would have to sack him if they wanted rid of him.
However, the club have backed the under-fire Portuguese boss.
“The club wants to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support,” the statement read.
“As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team’s performances must improve.
“However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad with which to do it.”
