Celtic first team coach John Kennedy doesn’t believe manager Ronny Deila meant to say they players look “scared” after their Champions League exit to Malmo.
Deila made the comments after the Hoops lost 2-0 (4-3 on aggregate) to the Swedish outfit which has consigned them to Europa League football for a second year running.
However, players including Scott Brown and Kris Commons disputed those claims after the game.
Kennedy believes Deila has perhaps meant to say something else.
“The manager has said something. He obviously speaks good English but he doesn’t know the meaning of every word. He might have meant some of that,” he told PLZ Soccer.
“What we did say to the players was we lacked that confidence that we have shown this season. We didn’t get on the ball. be composed and clam and dictate the play. That’s unlike us.
“The way we defended we were very open there were a number of factors that the defeat came down to. And we are disappointed with that.
“It wasn’t down to attitude.”
