Derek McInnes has ordered Aberdeen duo Graeme Shinnie and Gary Mackay-Steven to tell the club in January if they plan to commit to the club beyond the summer.
Both Dons stars have been offered new deals at Pittodrie, with both their contracts to expire at the end of the season, but are yet to put pen to paper on a longer term contract.
Derek McInnes said: “I’m hopeful we’ll get answers from both in January one way or the other, as that would be good for my planning.
“I think they would owe that to me and Aberdeen. Both lads have indicated a real willingness to consider staying and hopefully that will be the outcome.
“It’s something I’ve been used to as a manager here, losing a lot of good players every summer, and you have to deal with it.”
