Leigh Griffiths says he’d take a yellow card every time for his celebrations as he once again proved to be the scourge of Hearts fans after his stunning solo effort.
Griffiths had been on the receiving end of criticism all night from the Hearts fans, who love to hate him, but ended up having the last laugh as his goal and assist put Celtic in the last four of the Scottish League Cup.
A yellow card for over-zealous celebrations failed to dampen his spirits.
“I celebrated like that when I scored my first Celtic goal here,” he said.
“I knew if I ran to the Celtic fans I would get booked and if I ran towards the Hearts fans I would get booked. If you gave me an option that’s the only place I’m going.
“I think the yellow card was a bit harsh but if you gave me a goal like that and a yellow card I’ll take it all day long.
“I get abuse everywhere I go but here you always get stick being an ex-Hibee. The only way to shut them up is to score and set up a goal.
“The main thing was just to get through the tie, we knew coming through to Tynecastle it was going to be a very difficult game.
“With the chances we created we should have won by a bigger margin.”
