Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths says he’s in the form of his life and has his sights set on crashing through the 40-goal barrier this season.
Griffiths fired in a hat-trick as the Hoops thumped Hamilton Accies 8-1 in midweek to take his tally to 27 for the season, with still four months of the campaign remaining.
The former Hibs striker is still some way off Henrik Larsson’s record of 53 goals in the 2000/01 season but is with brimming with confidence.
“I feel like I’m in the form of my life right now,” he told reporters at Lennoxtown on Friday.
“My confidence is sky high. I feel like I’m going into every game capable of scoring goals. I’ve only got one more goal to equal my record for a whole season when I was at Hibs.
“At the start of the season I aim to hit 20, then it’s 25, then 30. Once I hit 30 I’ll want to hit 40 and then see where I am at the end of the season.”
Griffiths is in 11th position in the race for the European Golden Shoe and is ahead of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gareth Bale and Thomas Muller.
