Rangers cruised past Nice 4-1 in a memorable evening on the French Riviera.

The duality of Philippe Clement’s side would stun even Robert Louis Stevenson as we once again witnessed their impressive capabilities just days after being booed off after an insipid domestic draw.

Hamza Igamane provided a coming-of-age performance with two-goals and an assist as the Light Blues ruthlessly capitalised on a Nice squad in the throws of an injury crisis.

The visitors took the lead when the forward showed some excellent awareness to win the ball in the area and provide a lay off to Vaclav Cerny whose strike found the back of the net via two deflections from the Nice defence.

Rangers then doubled their advantage when Mohamed Diomande nipped in behind Youssouf Ndayishimiye before providing a deft clipped finish over the head of Marcin Bulka.

The travelling contingent would be forgiven for thinking they were watching a different side to that which turned out at Ibrox on Saturday as they charged into a 3-0 lead.

Mohamed Abdelmonem was this time at fault playing a careless ball back towards his own goal allowing the 22-year old Igamane to round the stranded Bulka before composing himself and thundering home the third of the evening.

The Nice defence continued to shoot itself in the foot. Pablo Rosario gave up possession in a dangerous area where Igamane was again on hand to take advantage. Buoyed by his earlier strike, the young Moroccan nutmegged the stand-in captain before sliding home his second.

Badredine Bouanani had time to curl in a stunning free kick which proved to be nothing more than a consolation for the hosts on a humbling night in Europe.
