Hearts new signing

Malaury Martin has signed for Hearts on a three-and-a-half year deal, the Tynecastle club have confirmed.

The 28-year-old French midfielder joins Ian Cathro’s Premiership side after leaving Norwegian outfit Lillestrom.

Martin, who captained France from Under-17 to Under-21 level, began his career at Monaco before enjoying spells with Middlesbrough, Swiss side Lausanne and Sandnes Ulf of Norway.

Martin told Hearts TV that he was “impatient to know the players” and start his Tynecastle career.

He said: “I knew about the club, I lived in Newcastle which is not so far away and it was great to know about the interest from the club.

“I am really happy to sign.

“I have played in different countries and I think here is the best in Europe for the atmosphere and passion of the people.

“You have everything you need to be a football player.”
