Scotland and Aston Villa star John McGinn has been awarded William Hill SFWA Men’s International Player of the Year award for a fourth successive season.
The ex-Hibs and St Mirren star said: “It’s brilliant to win this award and it obviously feels as nice as it did the first time.
“In fact it’s probably even more special the more successful we have become because it could have been a number of players. I’m not exaggerating, there could be six or seven who could have won so I’m extremely delighted and I hope it is not my last.
“Like I say all of the time, it’s an extreme privilege to play for Scotland every single time you get the opportunity. To get this award four years in a row is surreal. Sometimes you pinch yourself at the thought of it.”
Daryl West, Head of Sponsorship at William Hill, added: “On behalf of everyone at William Hill we’d like to congratulate John McGinn on winning the SFWA Men’s International Player of the Year award.
“It’s a well deserved accolade after another immense season for John.
“To win this award four times in a row is an incredible feat and testament to the hard work, commitment and leadership John demonstrates every time he puts on the Scotland jersey.
“It’s an honour for us to support this award and its worthy winner.”
