Jurgen Klopp has revealed Mamadou Sakho was sent home from the Liverpool training camp because of his punctuality.
The France defender missed key meetings with the team which irked the German boss and now his future with the club is uncertain.
Sakho wouldn’t have been involved in any of the Reds’ match in their America tour because of an Achilles heel injury anyway but his poor timekeeping hasn’t gone down well with Klopp.
“He missed the departure of the plane, he missed a session and then was late for a meal,” he told reporters.
“I have to build a group here, we have to start new. So I thought maybe it made sense to fly home to Liverpool and after eight or ten days, then we will come back and we will see how it is. We have some rules and you have to respect them.
“If someone hasn’t – or gives me the feeling of not respecting – then we have to react. That’s all.
“How he took it is private but there was no argument. It wasn’t, ‘You this, you that.’ I spoke, just one of us, that’s all. You can’t have an argument when only one is speaking. I was the only one speaking. “He missed a session and even injured players have a session.”
