05 Sep Livingston 2-4 Morton: Ton dispatch of 10-man Lions
Morton moved into the top four after an impressive 4-2 victory over 10-man Livingston.
Ben Gordon received a straight red card in the first half for violent conduct after he cynically took out Conor Pepper down the left-hand side.
Jim Duffy’s men soon capitalised on the man advantage as Stefan McCluskey nipped in for a simple tap-in after a mix-up between Livingston goalkeeper Darren Jamieson and defender Declan Gallagher.
Livi boss Mark Burchill took a gamble at half-time taking off defender Jackson Longridge and putting on striker Jordan White.
It was a brave change that signalled their intention to get back in the game.
However, the Ton exploited the space in behind and it wasn’t long before the Lions found themselves 4-0 down after former Celtic youngster Denny Johnstone, Bobby Barr and substitute Jon Scullion all got on the scoresheet.
It could have been worse for the hosts as Duffy’s side passed up further opportunities but the Lions showed great character to finish the game on with a late flurry.
White stole in to nick a consolation for Livi before substitute Jordyn Sheerin added a cracking second, rifling the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box.
