29 Jan McAvennie: Gers failure to land O’Halloran raises questions
Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes Rangers missing out on St Johnstone target Michael O’Halloran suggests all is not well at Ibrox.
THe Light Blues had two bids rejected by the Saints which they say were well below their valuation of the 25-year-old who has been in impressive form this season and tore the Ibrox club apart in the League Cup earlier this term.
Rangers moved to snap up Hearts winger Billy King on loan until the end of the season on Thursday and haven’t come up with a third offer for O’Halloran, and McAvennie thinks the club not wanting to or being unable to stump up the money for the attacker raises questions.
“I thought O’Halloran would have been a good deal. He’s not a prolific goalscorer but he’ll create chances and cause problems,” he told Peter and Roughie’s Football Show.
“I don’t know if Warburton is upset but to want a player for £400,000 – it’s not too much money – and not get him suggests something is wrong.”
