Ross County recorded their first ever victory at Fir Park with a 2-1 win against Motherwell.
Jackson Irvine and Brian Graham netted for the visitors with Stephen Pearson’s late strike proving too little too late for the Steelmen.
Irvine, who was brought in late to the starting XI at the expense of Martin Woods who was ill, opened the scoring on 20 minutes.
He later suffered a broken nose but played out the remainder of the game regardless.
“It’s all part of the job,” he said. “I’m surprised it’s taken me this long to be honest.
“I was telling them to mummify my face and get me on for the last two minutes, especially because I was at fault for the goal. I was desperate to get on and make up for it.”
‘Well boss Mark McGhee felt his side were hard done by to not get something out of the game considering their fighting spirit after going a goal down.
“We did more than enough,” he said. “We got into their final third twice as much as they got into ours and there’s not too many people I can point the finger at.
“We lost the goal from the corner kick and that shouldn’t be happening because we work on that.
“There can be no criticism of the attitude or the style we tried to do it in though. We lost a game I didn’t think we deserved to lose.”
