Motherwell keeper Trevor Carson out indefinitely after Deep Vein Thrombosis diagnosis

Motherwell keeper Trevor Carson could miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis.

The Northern Ireland international returned to Fir Park after turning out for his country in the 2-1 defeat to Austria.

But he has been ruled out of the weekend’s clash with Aberdeen, with no timescale for his return being pencilled in.

The 30-year-old has been a mainstay in Stephen Robinson’s side after turning out for the club 19 times this season.

Boss Stephen Robinson said: “We would like to thank all the staff at University Hospital Wishaw for their diligence and care, given it is the sort of medical emergency that can be and often is life threatening if not treated promptly and correctly.

“It’s not your usual injury in that at this stage, his return time is not yet fully known and will obviously depend on a number of factors.

“As a club, we wish Trevor a very speedy recovery and will give him all the support he needs to get back fit and healthy as soon as possible.”
