Bayern Munich have confirmed they have completed the signing of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal for a fee believed to be in the region of €40 million (£28m).
The Chile midfielder, who spent four successful years in Italy with Juve, has successfully completed a medical and has signed a four-year deal at Bayern until 2019.
Vidal will be unveiled to the press on Tuesday alongside sporting director Matthias Sammer. The 28-year-old helped Juventus to their fourth consecutive Serie A title and his country to the Copa America this summer and will replace the departing Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The midfielder has previous experience of playing in the Bundesliga as he was with Bayer Leverkusen between the years of 2007-2011 before he moved to Turin and made quite an impression, scoring 15 goals in over appearances.
Bayern have also signed Brazilian winger Douglas Costa from Shakhtar Donetsk as coach Pep Guardiola looks to emulate Jupp Heynckes’ treble feat.
“I’m very happy. This is a new step in my career and I hope I do well here,”he told the club’s official website. I want to help the team and win trophies. It’s a dream come true for me personally.
“I wanted to take another big step forward in my career. I want to keep developing as a player and win important trophies like the Champions League. I think the best opportunity to do so is with Bayern.”
