There was a sense of déjà vu for Hamilton Accies fans as Dougie Imrie equalised for the 10-man side for the second consecutive week.
The visitors earned another 1-1 draw against the odds after Lucas Tagliapietra was sent off for a last-man challenge on the cusp of half time.
Thistle took the lead on the hour mark with Mathias Pogba scoring his first goal for the club. And it couldn’t have been easier for the striker as he tapped home from just a couple of yards out.
Accies boss Martin Canning brought himself on as a substitute though and the side battled their way to a share of the points.
Imrie picked up Gramoz Kurtaj’s ball with 12 minutes to go and rounded substitute Ryan Scully, who had replaced the injured Tomas Černý in the first-half, slotting it into the empty net.
Thistle manager Alan Archibald was left frustrated at full-time; “We go a goal ahead, the other team are down to 10-men, we should see the game out,” he said.
“It was a poor reaction when we scored actually, we sat back rather than keeping our shape. We didn’t play well, it was a scrappy game and we didn’t pass the ball well.”
Canning explained why he introduced himself almost 20 minutes after the Accies were reduced to three at the back.
“I was hoping to come on at half-time but I’ve been struggling a bit with an injury so waited to come on later and tidy things up at the back,” he said.
“I’ve always said I’d keep myself ticking over so I was there if I was needed.”
