Premiership Round-Up: Celtic increase lead at the top

Celtic increased their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Inverness CT.

After a frustrating first half for the hosts Gary Mackay-Steven opened the scoring before Leigh Griffiths bagged a double to get his 31st and 32nd strike of the season.

Paul Paton gave Dundee United a renewed sense of hope of survival after a 2-1 win over Hearts.

Ten-man Ross County produced a terrific victory over Hamilton Accies to cement their place in fourth spot.

Alex Schalk opened the scoring for the Staggies just before half-time but they were dealt a blow in the second half when Jamie Reckord was dismissed for denying Dougie Imrie a goalscoring opportunity.

Imrie wasn’t to be denied minutes later though as he headed in from close range. But a terrific free kick from Ian McShane sealed the win for Jim McIntyre’s side.

St Johnstone ended a run of 10 games without a win with a last-minute winner from Tam Scobbie against Motherwell.

The Steelmen’s propensity to concede late goals continued again at McDiarmid Park despite them taking the lead through top goalscorer Louis Moult. David Wothersppon restored parity before Scobbie converted a Simon Lappin free kick to fire Saints into the top six.

Lee Clark’s first time in the Rugby Park dugout ended in stalemate for Kilmarnock against Dundee.
