Rangers have released striker Nicky Clark with his contract expired.
The 24 year old, signed by Ally McCoist in 2013 on a free, has never managed to hit the heights at Ibrox, recording just 18 goals across three seasons for the Ibrox club. With 76 appearances under his belt, Clark was never able to establish himself as a regular starter, finding himself behind Jon Daly, then subsequently Kris Boyd and Kenny Miller in the pecking order.
Clark was signed as a promising young player having hit an impressive 41 goals in 46 appearances for Queen of the South in 2012-2013, but has been unable to replicate that form in Glasgow.
With Martyn Waghorn and Kenny Miller taking up the striking positions and new arrivals anticipated in the summer, Warburton has made the decision not to renew Clark’s contract.
Clark made final appearance for Rangers as a substitute in the Scottish Cup Final against Hibs, though will be better remembered this season for the goal he scored against them in the 4-2 win at Ibrox in December.
