We all know about the quality of Lewandowski and Poland but it’s time we focused on what we can do. We shouldn’t be worried about them, they should be worried about us.
It’s time the Scots showed what we can do by taking the game by the scruff of the neck, winning games instead of coming from behind.
We have the players that can break teams down. I think the wing play will be very important, we’ve got pace in the team. The guys in that area, particularly Maloney, have showed they can raise their game and cause you damage with their pace and support the attack.
The debate is obviously Griffiths or Fletcher up front. For me, Fletcher offers more up front and, although Griffiths has been scoring, he’s also been missing chances and you do get your fair share of chances to put the ball away at Celtic.
He’s scored some good goals there’s no doubt about it but if you were to ask anybody who is the £12 million player then it’s Fletcher. You wouldn’t pay £12m for Griffiths.
But Fletcher has got a lot to prove. Gordon Strachan has stood by him and talked him up most of the time now it’s up to players like him to come up with the goods on the night.
It will be a fantastic occasion. The players will know exactly what it’s all about. The atmosphere can sometimes go for you or against you, but standing at the national anthem when you’re at home and the supporters are going crazy will give them a tremendous lift. You’re going to hope that the Polish players – won’t be scared – but might be startled.
Looking at it, I’d be happy with a play-off as there are teams in there, potentially, that you would fancy beating.
If we looked like we had two goals in us on a regular basis, then, I’d be confident we could do it. We’re solid but you sometimes wonder where the goals are coming from but I just hope we can do it.
