Warburton’s best eleven

Rangers boss Mark Warburton admits he is still searching for his strongest line-up.

The Ibrox side have made an unbeaten start to the campaign which has taken them to the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership after three games as well as the Betfred Cup quarter-finals.

Their only disappointment came in their league curtain-raiser when Hamilton held them to a 1-1 draw.

But while results have been encouraging, performances have lacked the sparkle shown during last year’s promotion charge and Warburton admits it is taking time for him to find the right combinations after adding 10 new players to his team this summer.

Asked to assess his side’s start to the campaign ahead of Friday’s trip to Kilmarnock, the Englishman said: “We’ve got seven points from nine. We were frustrated to drop two points at home to Hamilton but it was a big experience and big occasion with a lot of emotion involved for many of the players and the fans.

“So we’re happy with the start. Don’t forget we’ve got 10 players coming into a squad and gelling. Have we found our right selection yet? Probably not but that’s normal at this stage.”

Warburton, who could add Philippe Senderos to his squad before the Rugby Park trip, added: “Now we’re looking to go into Friday and get another three points. But it’s not a bad start from Rangers.”
