Derek McInnes goes back to Tynecastle on Wednesday night for Hearts v Rangers. On The Football Show, Alan Rough, Tam McManus and Peter Martin argued about the reception he will get from the Hearts supporters.

The discussion produced two blunt lines. One was "I think he'll get dog's abuse", and the other was just as direct: "there will be boos, there's no doubt about it."

Rangers win in the storm

Before turning to Wednesday, the panel went through Rangers' 4-0 win over St Johnstone, played at Ibrox in the storm. They looked at Bouanani coming in off his left foot, at Minsu Kim, and at Kelsy and Naderi up front.

"Slowly but surely" was the phrase attached to the discussion of McInnes and his options. The panel also considered whether "the fans will start to believe that they can do something this year", and whether Celtic and Rangers will drop points away from home.

Competition on the wings

The choice between Bouanani and Gassama on the wing was another talking point. That led into a wider argument about why wingers now have to defend, with one notable exception: "unless you're Messi".

Hearts win at Fir Park

The panel also covered Hearts' 2-0 win over Motherwell, with Claudio Braga and Calvin Miller scoring. That result came before Wednesday's meeting with Rangers at Tynecastle, where the welcome for McInnes was the main topic of debate on the show.
