Bournemouth won 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, with Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson scoring in a Premier League meeting that ended three successive draws between the clubs. It was the second time in less than two years that Bournemouth had left Manchester with a three-goal win, and Man Utd did not score at all.

Two goals in five minutes before the break

The match turned in the closing stages of the first half. Rayan opened the scoring in the 38th minute, and Marcus Tavernier added a second five minutes later, in the 43rd. Two goals in such a short spell, so close to half-time, left Man Utd needing to score twice simply to draw level after the interval.

They did not manage one. Evanilson made it 3-0 in the 71st minute, and that was the final score. Bournemouth's three scorers were all different players, and their clean sheet meant Man Utd were held scoreless at home in this fixture for the second time in three visits.

A familiar scoreline at Old Trafford

The result closely echoed the meeting at Old Trafford on 22 December 2024, which also finished Man Utd 0-3 Bournemouth. In between, the record had settled into a pattern of draws, many of them high-scoring:

  • 27 April 2025: Bournemouth 1-1 Man Utd
  • 15 December 2025: Man Utd 4-4 Bournemouth
  • 20 March 2026: Bournemouth 2-2 Man Utd

Before that, the sides had drawn 2-2 at Bournemouth on 13 April 2024. Taken together, Man Utd have now gone six meetings without beating Bournemouth, with four draws and two Bournemouth wins, both of them 3-0 at Old Trafford.

What the recent meetings show

Across those six matches, Bournemouth have scored 15 goals to Man Utd's nine. The draws had suggested two evenly matched sides, and the 4-4 last December was as open as this fixture has been in recent seasons. Yet when the games have tipped one way, they have tipped decisively, and towards Bournemouth.

There is a caution worth stating. Six matches spread across more than two years is a modest sample, and draws have been the more common outcome than wins for either side. Sunday's result strengthens Bournemouth's recent hold on the fixture, but it does not by itself mean the next meeting will follow the same course. The run of four draws in five before this match is a reminder of how close these games have usually been.

The match in brief

  • Result: Man Utd 0-3 Bournemouth
  • Competition: Premier League, Matchday 8
  • Venue: Old Trafford, Sunday 25 October 2026
  • Bournemouth scorers: Rayan 38, Marcus Tavernier 43, Evanilson 71

For Bournemouth, it was a match decided by a sharp spell before half-time and confirmed with a third goal midway through the second half. For Man Utd, it extended a run against this opponent that now stretches back to April 2024 without a win.
