Rangers' 'amateur' defending costs them two points at Dens Park

The Football Show panel picked apart Rangers' draw with Dundee, credited Steven Pressley and debated Nicolas Raskin's value and Rangers' title credentials.

By Peter Martin,

Rangers' defending at Dens Park came in for sharp criticism on The Football Show LIVE on Monday 19 October, with the panel concluding that "The two goals that Rangers give away are amateur."

Peter Martin, Alan Rough, Alex Rae and Tam McManus went through the draw with Dundee, which the panel treated as two points dropped for Derek McInnes.

Dundee get their credit

Dundee were described as "excellent" in the first half, and one goal in the match was called "totally against the run of play". The panel gave credit to Steven Pressley, whose Dundee side sit "fourth in the table". They came back to Dundee's position later in the show, alongside a discussion of Elvis's culture.

The goals themselves were also discussed: Nicolas Raskin's strike and the wider question of shots from distance, and Bouanani's equaliser. Bouanani, Naderi and Kelsy were all talked about.

Title-winning side

The bigger question was whether this Rangers team is good enough to win the league. The panel discussed whether Rangers are a title-winning side, with the dropped points at Dens as the backdrop.

Raskin's price tag

The show also asked whether Raskin is worth £38 million, with the midfielder described as "worth about 38 million at the moment".

Elsewhere, the programme opened on Celta Vigo, Benfica and "a huge gap", and a Play it forward segment took in Newcastle, Arsenal and Rangers.
