Wednesday sees the Premiership play-off semi-final first leg between the Light Blues and Hibs in what Rae predicts a tight affair played in front of a bumper crowd at Ibrox.
Stuart McCall’s men overcame Queen of the South on Sunday to book their place against the Edinburgh outfit but it certainly wasn’t easy and Rae insists they’ll need to win the first leg to put the pressure on Hibs.
“I think Rangers need a lead heading into the second leg purely from a confidence point of view,” he told Peter and Roughie’s Football Show.
“I think they have gone there recently and got a result at Easter Road. If they take a result there the pressure will be very much on Hibs.
“I feel quite confident in Rangers in both legs they’ve got a bit more legs in the team now.
“It will be interesting to see how Hibs shape up if they play a diamond formation they could get murdered down the sides.
“Rangers need to take the game to Hibs. I was quite impressed with Rangers the other day with the chances they created and it can be a daunting place if they can get the fans on their side.
“It was great to see Ibrox full again and everybody will be really up for this one.
“Hibs are better quality [than QOS]. Alan Stubbs seems confident and relaxed. Preparation couldn’t have gone any better – they were doing double sessions in La Manga. I think it will be a really tight affair particularly at Ibrox.”
