Brighton have signed Republic of Ireland defender Caitlin Hayes from Celtic.

The 29-year-old spent four and a half seasons with Celtic, where she won one Scottish league title and three Scottish Cups, following youth spells at Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton.

“We’re delighted to welcome Caitlin to the club,” women’s head coach Dario Vidosic told the Brighton website.

“She’s an experienced player who has competed at many levels in the game, including cup finals and the Champions League.

“She’s progressed well in her time in Scotland and we’re looking forward to seeing her compete in the WSL with Brighton.”

The Women’s Super League club have not disclosed the length of contract for the 18-times capped Hayes.
