Dundee United and Motherwell share the points at Tannadice
Lukas Fadinger and Jesse Randall scored in the first half as Dundee United and Motherwell drew 1-1, two months after a 3-0 Motherwell win.

Dundee United and Motherwell drew 1-1 at Tannadice Park on Saturday afternoon, with both goals arriving before half-time and nothing to separate the sides after the break. Lukas Fadinger opened the scoring in the ninth minute and Jesse Randall equalised in the 41st.
On its own, a draw in the thirteenth round of the Scottish Premiership is not a result that demands much interpretation. Set beside the previous meeting between these clubs, it reads a little differently, and that comparison is the most useful thing the afternoon offered.
The first half
The match was effectively shaped inside the opening 41 minutes. Fadinger's goal came early enough to define the rest of the half, leaving the trailing side more than half an hour to respond before the interval. Randall's equaliser arrived four minutes before the break, which meant the teams went in level and the second half began as, in effect, a fresh contest for three points.
That second half produced no further goals. After two in the first 41 minutes, neither side found a way through in the remaining time, and the scoreline that stood at the interval was the one that stood at full time.
Against the September meeting
The last time these clubs met, on 2 September, Motherwell won 3-0 at home. That was a decisive result, the kind that can sit over a fixture for some time. Two months later, Dundee United conceded once rather than three times and finished level rather than well beaten.
For the home side, that is a meaningful shift in outcome between the two most recent meetings. For Motherwell, the picture is steadier: they have not lost either of them, and a point away from home after a comfortable win in the previous encounter is not a poor return.
What the result does and does not tell us
It would be easy to read too much into this. Two matches between the same clubs, two months apart, are a thin basis for any firm claim about which way the fixture is moving. A 3-0 can flatter the winner and a 1-1 can conceal a great deal about how a match was played. What can be said is that the gap between these sides was considerably narrower on Saturday than it was in September.
The more cautious reading is simply that this was a closely contested match decided by two first-half goals, with neither side able to add to its total after the interval. Whether it marks a genuine change in the balance between Dundee United and Motherwell, or whether September's scoreline was the less representative of the two, is something only further meetings will settle.
For now, the points were shared, and Tannadice saw a match that was level at the break and stayed that way.
