Hearts and Rangers drew 2-2 at Tynecastle Park on Wednesday night in a Scottish Premiership fixture on MatchDay 11 that was not settled until the 89th minute. There were four goals from four different scorers, and the last of them meant neither side left Edinburgh with the win.
How the goals came
Kevin Kelsy opened the scoring after 16 minutes. That was the only goal of the first half, so the interval arrived with one side a goal to the good and the match still very much open.
The second half was far busier. Cláudio Braga scored three minutes after the restart, on 48 minutes, and Calvin Miller followed on 57. Olwethu Makhanya then struck in the 89th minute, and that proved to be the final goal of the night.

The shape of the evening
The scoreline tells part of the story on its own. Because the match finished level, Makhanya's goal in the 89th minute must have been an equaliser. Whichever side had moved in front with Miller's goal on 57 minutes held that advantage for 32 minutes, and they were close to seeing it out when it went.
The goals also clustered. Two of the four came in a nine-minute spell early in the second half, between Braga's on 48 and Miller's on 57. That passage turned a one-goal game into a three-goal game. After it came the longest scoreless stretch of the night, more than half an hour, before the late intervention changed the outcome.
A goal that late lands very differently on the two sides. One side will see a point rescued from a match that appeared to be getting away from them. The other will see two points slipping away with the final whistle in sight. The table records both the same way, but the 89th minute is the moment most likely to be remembered from this one.
What the result tells us
Hearts and Rangers took a point each, and that is the plainest reading of the evening. Beyond that, the evidence from a single match is thin. One result on MatchDay 11 says little on its own about where either club's season is heading, and it would be a stretch to build a broader verdict on it.
What can be said is that this was an open contest rather than a cagey one. Four goals were shared evenly, the scoring came in both halves, and the outcome stayed in doubt until the last minute of normal time. For a fixture between these two sides, that made for a lively midweek night at Tynecastle Park.
