"Rangers are playing for 20 minutes in games" before St Johnstone

The Football Show previewed Rangers v St Johnstone at Ibrox, weighed up the title race and debated who is the best manager in the league.

By PLZ Soccer,

Rangers host St Johnstone at Ibrox, and Friday's edition of The Football Show delivered a blunt verdict on the home side: "Rangers are playing for 20 minutes in games."

That line led into a wider discussion of the games Rangers slip up in, with the dropped points at Dens Park among the talking points. The panel looked at where that leaves Rangers in the title race against Celtic, and argued over whether Rangers can win the title.

There was one point in Rangers' favour. The panel made the case that "Rangers will probably have the better of Celtic" when the two sides meet head-to-head. Alongside the concern about the games Rangers slip up in, that left the discussion focused on how they fare against the rest of the league.

Valakari's St Johnstone

The visitors got their own share of attention. The panel discussed Simo Valakari's St Johnstone and whether Dundee was "a blip".

Best manager in the league

The episode then turned to who is the best manager in the league. Derek McInnes and Martin O'Neill were both in the conversation, but Tam McManus made his pick Steven Pressley, noting: "I've played under him myself."

The discussion went on to Pressley in connection with Scotland.

The show closed with predictions for the Ibrox fixture, with "2-1 tight" offered as the call.
