The Football Show · 20 August 2026
Peter Martin previews a huge night for Scottish football live from Fir Park, with four clubs in European action: Rangers v Jablonec at Ibrox, Hearts v Rapid Vienna at Tynecastle, Hibernian v Gent in Belgium, and Motherwell v Freiburg. Peter also reacts to Celtic's superb 3-0 win over LASK the night before - goals from Benjamin Nygren and a Duran double for Martin O'Neill's side - and gives his verdict: only Rangers and Celtic look likely to progress, with tough nights ahead for Hearts, Hibs and Motherwell.
WHICH SCOTTISH CLUBS ARE IN EUROPE TONIGHT?
Four: Rangers (v Jablonec), Hearts (v Rapid Vienna), Hibernian (v Gent) and Motherwell (v Freiburg), across the Europa Conference League and Europa League playoff round. Celtic already won their tie 3-0 against LASK the previous night.
WHAT DID PETER MARTIN SAY ABOUT CELTIC 3-0 LASK?
He called it a magnificent performance - Nygren's opener and a Duran double were technically superb - while warning Celtic still looked shaky at the back and praising young right-back Kobe Donovan. He believes 3-0 is a defendable lead heading to Austria.
WHAT ARE THE PREDICTIONS?
Peter tips Rangers to beat Jablonec and Celtic to go through, but fears tough nights for Hearts (a draw at best against Rapid Vienna), Hibs (v Gent) and Motherwell (against Bundesliga side Freiburg, last season's Europa League runners-up).
