Could Hearts WIN the Scottish Premiership tonight? | Derek McInnes | "I've got an unshakable belief that we can do this." Hearts vs Falkirk: Hearts manager Derek McInnes confirms his squad's mindset before Tynecastle could be the venue for one of the most historic SPFL title clinches of a generation — and gives an emotional update on the double Achilles injury blow to Marco and Craig Halkett.
🟦 McINNES ON THE TITLE BELIEF:
"Any lads who have come in as replacements have never let us down. We've got players who come in and do the job for us. And I've got an unshakable belief that we can do this. The squad feel that as well. It's an extra wee bit of motivation for us if we needed any more, that two players have played a big part [in the season]."
🟦 McINNES ON THE TITLE SCENARIO:
"I just assumed that Celtic are going to win the game. I've had in my head that we are going to the last game and I'm prepared for that. Listen, there's no easy games for anybody. Nothing's straightforward. Motherwell are a more than capable team — as we saw the other night, they were fully committed against us. I'm sure that'll be the same again against Celtic tomorrow."
🟦 McINNES ON A HISTORIC NIGHT AT TYNECASTLE:
"It's actually nice to even hear that Hearts could win the league at Tynecastle. I don't know how many people have been able to say that in a lifetime, you know. But listen, the likelihood is if we're going to win the league, we're going to have to win two games — or certainly pick up four points from the next two games."
🟦 McINNES ON THE DOUBLE ACHILLES INJURY:
"Both Marco and Craig got operated in London yesterday morning. Both Achilles ruptures and significant injuries — both about 7-9 months probably. We managed to set up a scan and an appointment with the expert down in London, and both lads flew down Sunday afternoon for their operation. Marco travels to Birmingham today and Craig will come back to Glasgow with a physio. Terrible news. There was a wee bit of a hangover after the game as well — two very important players, two really popular lads having to deal with significant injury."
🟦 McINNES ON THE SFA / WILLIE COLLUM CONVERSATION:
Asked about his conversation with the SFA's Willie Collum about refereeing decisions: "He was in agreement, and I'm satisfied for that point of view."
🟦 THE CONTEXT:
- Hearts can be crowned SPFL champions if they beat their next opponents AND Celtic drop points vs Motherwell tomorrow
- McInnes confirms Marco + Craig Halkett both undergoing Achilles surgery in London — 7-9 months out
- The Tynecastle title scenario would be Hearts' first league title in a generation
- McInnes' SFA meeting with Willie Collum confirmed resolved
