David Gray Full Post-Match Reaction | Aberdeen 1-0 Hibernian | "Still Everything to Play For!" | Scottish Premiership
Hibernian interim manager David Gray shared his full thoughts after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership – a result that has made the battle for third place even tighter. 🟢⚪
Here’s everything David Gray said after a tough afternoon:
🟢⚪ Performance Effort: Gray praised the Hibs players for giving "absolutely everything" despite the disappointment of defeat, emphasising that he would never be critical of their commitment or work rate.
🟢⚪ Tight Game: He admitted Hibs probably didn’t do quite enough to win the match, though he felt the team was largely comfortable and competed well throughout – highlighting how fine the margins were.
🟢⚪ Wonder Strike: Gray acknowledged the winning goal was a "special" one – a stunning strike worthy of winning any match – but added that while you can always find ways to avoid conceding, sometimes individual brilliance is hard to stop.
🟢⚪ Seventeen-Game Unbeaten Run Ends: He reflected on Hibs’ incredible 17-game unbeaten run coming to an end, stressing it showed both the form they had been on and just how difficult the league is.
🟢⚪ Perspective and Progress: Gray pointed out that sitting third with four games to go would have been considered a great achievement if offered a few months ago – and Hibs are still very much in control of their European hopes.
🟢⚪ Importance of Reaction: The key now is bouncing back quickly. Gray was clear that the squad must stay positive, return to the training pitch with focus, and be ready for the crucial home game against Dundee United.
🟢⚪ Tight Top Six Battle: With results tightening up across the top six, Gray reminded everyone that every match from here is a "cup final" with everything still to play for, especially the prize of European football.
🟢⚪ Final Message: Gray stressed the excitement of still being involved in big matches at this stage of the season and underlined the hunger within the squad to keep pushing toward a European spot.
👏 Despite the setback, David Gray remains focused, calm, and determined – and he believes Hibs can still finish the season strongly.
