Hearts v Rangers and Rangers v Aberdeen (Premier Sports Cup semi final) preview: "Hearts away midweek is always one you would say is fraught with difficulty." Derek McInnes on a big week for Rangers: Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday night, "a team who have got a lot of good players", then Aberdeen in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final at Hampden on Saturday. "The semi-final is where we want to be." And: "we're 90 minutes away from getting a chance to put their hands in silverware."
Derek McInnes Post Match Interview Transcript (Hearts v Rangers and Rangers v Aberdeen):
Yeah, but I think there's certain fixtures that are a bit more difficult than others throughout the league campaign. So, Hearts away midweek is always one you would say is fraught with difficulty, but I think equally as well, we've got to go there confident that we're in decent form, knowing that we've got a performance in us that can win the game, but, you know, you're going to have to do so much right against a team who have got a lot of good players. And, you know, that's a difficult game, but it's a great game to play in as well.
And the semi-final is where we want to be. So that's part of the course, and hopefully it should be that we continually visit Hampden, semi-finals and finals, and we're 90 minutes away from getting a chance to put their hands in silverware. So the prize is there for the players, as it is for Aberdeen. So it's big games, but you expect to take part in big games when you're here.
Two games against his old clubs in four days. How do Rangers get through it? Tell us below.
