Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson gives his first reaction to chief executive Alan Burrows stepping down, revealed around Motherwell 0-4 Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. Robinson says he "only found out tonight", and insists his players deserve all the credit for the win as he blocks out the noise during a period of transition at the club.

The Aberdeen manager credits his players, not himself, for sticking to the game plan of protecting the middle of the pitch and pushing play onto the outsides in a home win over Motherwell. He also gives his first reaction to chief executive Alan's decision to leave the club, saying he only found out about it after the match.

Aberdeen have announced that the CEO departs for family reasons, after three-and-half years in the role.

Chairman Dave Cormack said: "It goes without saying that Alan leaves with our very best wishes. Personally, I've enjoyed working with Alan, who has been a lead-from-the-front chief executive and someone who has put his heart and soul into the role.

"The club is in a much better commercial position because of his leadership. Thanks to Alan's drive, determination and enthusiasm, we've made significant strides in many areas, most notably fan engagement, creating a stronger platform on which to build for the future.

Aberdeen now search for a new chief executive.

Stephen Robinson Post Match Interview Transcript (Motherwell vs Aberdeen):

Yeah, it's my job to ignore the noise, and I know the changes that are going on at this football club and the amount of transition there is. It's not going to be straightforward, it's a huge challenge. So I have to keep the players believing in what they're doing, and I've seen the belief. Winning games gives you belief, and they've managed to do that. You could see them growing into the game, and the amount of times they broke, it could have been more, with good passing and lots of penetration as well. So that's probably what we haven't had, an end product to our game. Tonight we did. So really happy with that.

Managers sometimes don't get the credit for doing their homework. Did you have a particular plan and strategy to counter what Motherwell offer here at home?

I think the players deserve all the credit, not me. They carried out what we tried to do: protect the middle of the pitch and push it onto the outsides. That's easy to coach, but they're the ones that have to do it, after the shift they put in on Saturday night as well, for 60 minutes I believe with 10 men. They've done it to the letter, so they deserve every plaudit, not me.

Just a wee side issue here: your thoughts on your chief executive Alan deciding to leave Aberdeen?

Yeah, I only found out about it here tonight, because I was obviously concentrated on the game. So obviously I'll have a catch-up with Alan and go from there.
