David Gray: 'My fans let me know when Celtic scored' | Hibs v Motherwell — all to play for Saturday.🥬 #hibs #spfl "If Motherwell scored, the home fans would let me know. And if Celtic had scored, I'm pretty sure my fans would let us know." David Gray reveals how he kept track of the Motherwell v Celtic title-race drama during Hibs' own SPFL match on Tuesday — and what Saturday's Hibs v Motherwell European-spot decider means.
🟢 DAVID GRAY ON MONITORING MOTHERWELL-CELTIC LIVE:
"That proved to be the case. I knew within the game that it went — Motherwell had equalized. Or Celtic went, Motherwell equalizing — and you felt that. And then right at the very end, once we go 2-1 up, there's obviously another roar after our final whistle, which was only going to be for one thing."
🟢 ON HIBS' EUROPEAN-SPOT RACE:
"I'm thankful tonight the results have went our way, which we needed because of our slower start post-split. And how many points we were behind Motherwell — all we could do was win our game and hope that the results went our way."
🟢 THE CONTEXT:
- Hibs win on Tuesday + Motherwell drop points = Hibs catch up in the European-spot race
- Saturday's Hibs v Motherwell at full-time decides who finishes in the European place
- Both clubs go into the final SPFL fixture even on points (or close to it)
- Hearts v Celtic title decider at Celtic Park 12:30 KO Saturday — Hibs v Motherwell European decider at the same time
